The Welby Way Instrumental
Music Program is open to all students
in grades one through five.
Weekly classes are offered each Friday after school in association with POWW's Bee University. Classes are for beginning
students with no prior instruction and for students with some
prior experience.
The Welby Way Instrumental Music Program is is directed by Larry
Newman. Bianca Samaniego, Wendy Mazon and Desiree' Deasy are the music specialists.
First graders may only choose the violin.
Second graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, or
trumpet.
Third, fourth and fifth graders may choose the violin, cello, flute,
clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet or baritone horn.
An introductory assembly for all students in the school will be held the morning of Wednesday, August 22 in the auditorium. Parents are invited to attend.
Instruction begins on Friday, September 21, 2012 and runs through the
school year, culminating with a school concert in Spring 2013. We do not follow the regular POWW semester schedule but we do have class every Friday that school is in session from September 21 through May 2013.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons will be held each
Friday after school between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. Please keep
that time block free on Fridays. This flexibility in scheduling
will allow us to create classes best suited for the enrollment.
The exact lesson schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We
apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To aid in your planning, note
that beginning classes will be held earlier than intermediate and advanced level
classes.
The final schedule of classes will be emailed to all applicants
prior to the first day of class.
A one-time fee of $495 is requested to cover the costs of this year's instrumental music program (September 2012 through May 2013).
This fee includes all music, books and basic supplies which
your child is given. The only other expense is the lease,
rental or purchase of the instrument.
Through special arrangements with String Season, instruments
are available for purchase, rent or lease-to-own at up to 45%
off the retail price for participating music students.
Visit www.stringseason.com for more information and to place
your order for free delivery to school in time for the first lesson on Friday, September 21.
