Welby Way Instrumental Music Program
The Welby Way Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades one through five.
Weekly classes are offered each Friday after school in association with POWW’s Bee University. Classes are for beginning students with no prior instruction and for students with some prior experience.
The Welby Way Instrumental Music Program is is directed by Larry Newman.
First graders may only choose the violin.
Second graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet or pBone mini.
Third, fourth and fifth graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, pBone mini or baritone horn.
An introductory assembly for all students in the school will be held the morning of Thursday, August 21 in the auditorium. Parents are invited to attend.
Instruction begins on Friday, September 26, 2014 and runs through Friday, April 17, 2015, culminating with a school concert on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:00 PM. We do not follow the regular POWW semester schedule but we do have class every Friday that school is in session from September 26, 2014 through April 17, 2015.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons will be held each Friday after school between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. Please keep that time block free on Fridays. This flexibility in scheduling will allow us to create classes best suited for the enrollment.
The exact lesson schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To aid in your planning, note that beginning classes will be held earlier than intermediate and advanced level classes.
The final schedule of classes will be emailed to all applicants prior to the first day of class.
A one-time fee of $520 is requested to cover the costs of this year’s instrumental music program (September 2014 through April 2015).
This fee includes all music, books and basic supplies which your child is given. The only other expense is the lease, rental or purchase of the instrument.
Class size is limited and priority is given to the earliest applicants. Please complete the online application to reserve a spot. Once the application has been filled out, please print it and follow-up by mailing it along with your check or click here to pay by credit card.
Mail your paperwork and check in the amount of $520 payable to POWW (Parents of Welby Way) to:
