Welby Way Elementary Instrumental Music Program
The 2017 – 2018 Welby Way Elementary Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades one through five. The program is directed by Larry Newman and classes are taught by the music specialists of Children’s Music Workshop.
• Beginning classes are offered for first and second graders on the violin.
• Beginning classes are offered for third, fourth and fifth graders on violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet or pBone mini.
• For students with at least one year of previous lessons, classes are offered on violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet or trombone.
Instruction begins on Friday, October 6, 2017 and runs through the school year, culminating with a school orchestra concert featuring all the music students on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 4:00 PM in the school auditorium.
Small group classes will be scheduled every 30 – 40 minutes after school on Fridays after school from 2:40 PM – 5:10 PM.
Please have your child’s schedule clear for a 30 – 40 minute lesson during this time block. (First grade students will be scheduled immediately after dismissal at 2:40 PM.) Yard supervision is available for students waiting to take their lesson. The exact schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The final schedule of classes will be emailed to all applicants a few days prior to the first day of class.
A fee of $595 is requested from each participant. This fee covers weekly music instruction for the entire 2017 – 2018 school year. This fee covers all music, books and basic supplies which your child is given throughout the year. The only other expenses will be the lease, rental or purchase of the instrument. Instruments are available for up to 45% off the retail price for participating music students through our instrument supplier. Order online now and get free delivery to school for the first lesson. Visit The Instrument Place to place your order.

A parent volunteer is needed to assist students in getting to their lesson rooms on Fridays. If you are available every Friday from 2:40 – 4:40 PM to help, please email Mr. Newman. Parent volunteers receive a full tuition waiver and free instrument rental.

We Are Family at Welby Way
Music Is Important
Thank you for your great teaching and a wonderful experience. My children never read music notes nor played any instruments prior to joining Orchestra at Welby Way. Now, they both read music notes and love the instruments they play. My son will be attending Lawrence Magnet Middle School and most likely join the band with his saxophone. My daughter will be joining the orchestra program at Welby again in the Fall.
A Welby Way Parent
