Warner Ave. Elementary School Instrumental Music Program

The 2017-2018 Warner Ave. Elementary Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades one through five.

The program is directed by Larry Newman and classes are taught by the music specialists of Children’s Music Workshop.

• First graders may choose the violin.
• Second and third graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet or pBone mini (child-sized trombone).
• Fourth and fifth graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, pBone mini or trombone.

Instruction begins on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 and runs through the school year, culminating with a school concert on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the auditorium.

The cost for the 2017-2018 music program is $565. This fee covers weekly lessons and all music, books and basic supplies. The only other cost will be the rental or purchase of an instrument.

Instruments are available for up to 45% off the retail price for participating music students through our instrument supplier. Order online now and get free delivery to school for the first lesson. Visit The Instrument Place to place your order.

Small group classes will be scheduled back to back every 30 – 40 minutes on Tuesdays after school between 1:50 PM – 4:00 PM.  Please have your child’s schedule clear for a 30 – 40 minute lesson during this time block. The exact schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The final schedule of classes will be emailed to all applicants a few days prior to the first day of class.

First grade violin class will be offered immediately following dismissal at 1:45 PM. Students waiting to take a later lesson may opt to go home with parents and then return to school at lesson time or arrange for other after school clubs/supervision.   Students waiting to take their lesson may not be on campus unsupervised. Please contact the school regarding questions about other after school opportunities for students.

Free Music Tuition and Free Instrument Rental
A parent volunteer is needed to help with students waiting to take their lesson on Tuesdays. If you are available every Tuesday from 1:45 – 4:00 PM to help, please email Mr. Newman. Parent volunteers receive a full tuition waiver and free instrument rental.
