The 2017 – 2018 UCLA Lab School Instrumental Music Program is provided as a regular part of the school’s instructional program.
Larry Newman is the music program director. Dave Etterbeek, Leah Jacobson, Margaret Kocher, Bianca Samaniego, Debbie Klak and Suzanna Giordano Gignac are the music teaching specialists.
There is no fee or charge for students to participate in the UCLA Lab School Instrumental Music Program. However, some non-instructional costs may include music books, music supplies and the purchase, lease or rental of the musical instrument.

Students receive instruction one day per week on the instrument of their choice. Classes are for beginners as well as students with some previous experience.
Instrument choices include flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, pBone mini, baritone horn, trombone, violin and cello.
Students must be in second grade to participate. Second graders may only choose the violin.
Third grade and up may choose any instrument except saxophone and baritone horn. You must be in fourth grade or higher to choose the saxophone or baritone horn.
Classes are held before school, Monday through Friday, from 7:25 AM – 8:10 AM beginning the week of September 25, 2017. Classes begin promptly so plan to arrive BEFORE 7:25 AM to get seated, tuned and ready to play.

Yard supervision has been arranged for car pool members who are not involved in music class from 7:15 AM.
You will receive a confirmation email a few days prior to the start of classes to confirm your class day.
A gala spring concert is scheduled for Friday, May 4, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the renowned Schoenberg Concert Hall Auditorium on the UCLA campus.
Class size is limited and priority is given to the earliest applicants. Please complete the online application to reserve a spot.
Once the application has been filled out and successfully submitted, you will receive an auto confirmation via email.
