The Roosevelt Elementary School Instrumental Music Program is open to
all students in grades one through five.
FIRST & SECOND GRADE VIOLIN PROGRAM
All first and second grade students will receive weekly violin lessons as part of the regular school day curriculum. These lessons are paid for and provided at no cost to the students by the Roosevelt PTA and Roosevelt Boosters. Instruction is provided during the regular school day. First and second graders only need to register here if they want to take the after school program, too. (See instruments offered below.)
AFTER SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM FOR GRADES ONE THROUGH FIVE
Students in all grades can register for weekly after school classes which will be offered each Wednesday at Roosevelt
Elementary. These classes are for beginning students with no prior instruction as well
as students with some experience. Students will be assigned to classes based on their instrument choice and/or any prior experience. No experience is necessary to enroll.
This award winning program is directed by Larry Newman and classes are taught by the acclaimed teaching faculty of Children's Music Workshop.
An introductory assembly and instrument demonstration will be presented on Wednesday, August 28 at 1:15 PM for grades 1 and 2 and 2:00 PM for grades 3 - 5.
First graders may choose to learn the violin or recorder. (Recorders are provided free with enrollment in the class. What is a recorder?)
Second graders may pick from the violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet or mini P-Bone.
Third grade and up may select either violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, mini P-Bone, baritone horn or trombone.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons will be held each Wednesday
after school between 3:00 PM and 5:40 PM. Please keep that time
block free on Wednesdays. This flexibility in scheduling will allow
us to create classes best suited for the enrollment.
The exact lesson schedule will be determined when enrollment
is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
To aid in your planning, note that beginning classes will be
held earlier than orchestra level classes.
This is a year long commitment. Classes begin on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 culminating with a school orchestra concert the third week of April 2014.
The one-time annual fee for this program is $495 which covers all lessons, music, books and basic supplies your child is provided. The only other cost will
be the rental or purchase of an instrument.
