The Roosevelt Elementary School Instrumental Music Program is open to
all students in grades one through five.
FIRST GRADE VIOLIN PROGRAM
All first grade students will receive weekly violin lessons as part of the regular school day curriculum. These lessons are paid for and provided at no cost to the students by the Roosevelt PTA and Roosevelt Boosters. Instruction is provided during the regular school day. There is no need for first graders to register online or to rent a violin to participate in this special program.
AFTER SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM
Students in all grades can register for weekly after school classes which will be offered each Wednesday at Roosevelt
Elementary. These classes will be for beginning students with no prior instruction as well
as students with some experience. Students will be assigned to classes based on their instrument choice and/or any prior experience. No experience is necessary to enroll.
This award winning program is directed by Larry Newman and classes are taught by the expert teaching faculty of Children's Music Workshop.
First and second graders may choose to learn the violin or recorder. (Recorders are provided free with enrollment in the class. (What is a recorder?)
Third, fourth and fifth graders may choose the violin, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn or trombone.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons will be held each Wednesday
after school between 3:00 PM and 5:40 PM. Please keep that time
block free on Wednesdays. This flexibility in scheduling will allow
us to create classes best suited for the enrollment.
The exact lesson schedule will be determined when enrollment
is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
To aid in your planning, note that beginning classes will be
held earlier than orchestra level classes.
This is a year long commitment. Classes begin on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 culminating with a school orchestra concert in April 2013.
The one-time annual fee for this program is $485 which covers all lessons, music, books and basic supplies your child is provided. The only other cost will
be the rental or purchase of an instrument.
