Roosevelt Elementary After School Instrumental Music Program

 

The Roosevelt Elementary After School Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades one through five.

AFTER SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM FOR GRADES ONE THROUGH FIVE
Students in all grades can register for weekly after school classes which are offered each Thursday at Roosevelt Elementary. These classes are for beginning students with no prior instruction as well as students with some experience. Students will be assigned to classes based on their instrument choice and/or any prior experience. No experience is necessary to enroll. (After school classes are not affiliated with the school-day first and second grade violin program.)

Our after-school award winning program is directed by Larry Newman and classes are taught by Lyn Bertles.

First graders may choose to learn the violin.

Second graders may pick from the ukulele, violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet or mini P-Bone.

Third graders and up may select either ukulele, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, or mini P-Bone.

Thirty to forty minute small group lessons will be held each Thursday after school between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Please keep that time block free on Thursdays. This flexibility in scheduling will allow us to create classes best suited for the enrollment.

The exact lesson schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To aid in your planning, note that beginning classes will be held earlier than orchestra level classes.

The music program does not offer child care for students waiting to take their music lesson. Students can go home and return to school if their lesson is not immediately after dismissal time. If you need child care, please contact the school child care providers such as Log Cabin or Boys and Girls Club.

This is a year long commitment. Classes begin on Thursday, September 25, 2014 culminating with a school orchestra concert on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

The one-time annual fee for this program is $495 which covers all lessons, music, books and basic supplies your child is provided. The only other cost will be the rental or purchase of an instrument.

All instruments are delivered free to school in time for the first lesson.
