Instruction is available on violin, cello, recorder, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, p-Bone mini, baritone horn and trombone.

Kinder and first graders may choose violin or recorder. (See Kinder video below.)

Second graders may choose violin, flute, clarinet, p-Bone mini and trumpet.

Third graders and up may choose, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, p-Bone mini, baritone horn and trombone.

Weekly classes are offered for 30 to 40 minutes each Wednesday between the hours of 12:15 and 2:15 PM beginning on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. The exact lesson time for your child will be emailed when registration closes around September 20.

The Laurence Orchestra Program is a traditional "pull-out" elective music program. Students are excused from their regular classroom to take their music lesson and then return to their classroom.

Studies show that students in pull-out music programs are not adversely affected academically. In fact, studies prove just the opposite. Students who are involved in school music programs perform better on standardized tests than those who have no music instruction.

Laurence teachers understand that music instruction is not a distraction; rather, it is an important piece in a child's education. They realize that music as a discipline enhances classroom instruction and they are supportive of students missing a little classroom time to learn an instrument.

Classes run through the school year with a gala year-end concert on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 3:30 PM.

A music fee of $495 for the 2013-2014 school year is requested from each participant. This fee includes weekly lessons for the 2013-14 school year and all music, books and basic supplies which your child is given. The only other expense will be the lease, rental or purchase of the instrument.

Order your instrument now from The Instrument Place and get free delivery to school for the first lesson on September 25.
