The Fairburn Ave. Elementary School Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades one through five.
Larry Newman is the music director. Dave Etterbeek is the woodwind & brass specialist. Suzanna Giordana Gignac is the strings specialist.
Instruction is available on violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, pBone mini, and trombone.
TUESDAYS AFTER SCHOOL
• First graders may only choose the violin.
• Second graders may choose the violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet or pBone mini.
• Third through fifth graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, pBone mini or trombone.
No musical experience is required to enroll in a beginning class.
Instruction runs from Tuesday, September 27, 2016 through the 2016-2017 school year, culminating with a school orchestra concert on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
The orchestra program requires a one year commitment and regular home practice.
A fee of $550 is requested from each participant. This fee covers weekly music instruction for the entire 2016 – 2017 school year as well as all music, books and basic supplies which your child is given throughout the year. The only other expenses will be the lease, rental or purchase of the instrument. Thirty to forty minute classes are offered each Tuesday after school (early dismissal day) beginning on September 27.
Please have the after school time available from 1:35 – 4:30 PM. The exact time of your lesson will be announced after enrollment is compete. To help you plan, the beginning classes are usually held earlier than the intermediate and advanced classes. First graders meet immediately after dismissal at 1:35 PM.
Free Music Tuition and Free Instrument Rental
A parent volunteer is needed to proctor the students waiting to take their lesson on Tuesdays. If you are available every Tuesday from 1:30 – 3:30 PM to help, please email Mr. Newman. Parent volunteers receive a full tuition waiver and free instrument rental.
Class size is limited and priority is given to the earliest applicants. Please complete the online application to reserve a spot.
