The Thomas Edison Elementary Orchestra Program

The 2017 – 2018 Thomas Edison Elementary Orchestra Program is open to all students in grades TK/Kindergarten through five.

The Emmy award winning music program is directed by Larry Newman and classes are taught by Brenda Etterbeek.

Instrument Choices
• TK/Kinders and first graders may only choose the violin. Violins are sized to fit the individual student.
• Second graders may choose violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet or pBone mini.
• Third, fourth and fifth graders may choose violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet or pBone mini.

Thursday After School Classes
Thirty minute small group lessons are offered each Thursday after-school. Classes will be held every Thursday at Edison between the hours of 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM.  Classes begin on Thursday, September 28, 2017 and end with a concert on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Players with one year of experience or more will be placed in sections according to ability rather than instrument played. Sections and schedules will be determined after enrollment is complete.  Your child’s exact lesson time will be emailed a few days prior to the beginning of classes. Please keep the above indicated time block open. Students will be expected to report to the music room five minutes prior to the start of their lesson.

Program Costs
A music fee of $565 is requested from each participant.  This fee covers weekly music instruction for the entire 2017-2018 orchestra session as well as all music books and basic supplies which your child is given. The only other cost involved is the rental, lease or purchase of an instrument.
