The Center for Early Education instrumental
music program is open to all students in graades one through six.
Instruction is offered each Monday after school.
The
music program is directed by Larry Newman. Brenda Etterbeek conducts
the orchestra ensemble and teaches the brass and woodwind classes.
Karolina Nzamiec is the violin specialist.
First and second graders may only choose the violin. Violins are
sized to fit the individual student.
Third grade
and up may choose violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet
or trombone.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons are offered each
Monday after-school between the hours of 3 and 5 PM.
Players with one year of experience or more will be placed
in sections according to ability rather than instrument played.
Sections and schedules will be determined after enrollment
is complete.
Afternoon Day Care is available at no charge for students
waiting to take their music lesson. Students will be expected
to report to the music room five minutes prior to the start
of the lesson. Teachers and Day Care staff will have student
names and help them to remember.
The cost for the 2008-2009 school year is $495 which includes
instructional costs, basic supplies and all music which the
student is given. The only other cost will be the rental,
lease or purchase of the instrument.
Classes run through the school year, culminating with a school
orchestra concert in May 2009.
LEARN MORE at our parent orientation on Monday,
