The Center for Early Education instrumental
music program is open to all students in grades one through six. (Photos)
Instruction is offered each Monday after school.
The
Emmy award winning music program is directed by Larry Newman. Laura Ryan teaches winds and strings.
First graders may only take violin lessons. Violins are
sized to fit the individual student.
Second graders may take violin, cello, flute, clarinet and trumpet.
Third graders
and up may choose violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet
and trombone.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons are offered each
Monday after-school between the hours of 3 and 5 PM beginning
on Monday, October 3, 2011. Classes run through the school year,
culminating with a school orchestra concert in May 2012.
Players with one year of experience or more will be placed
in sections according to ability rather than instrument played.
Sections and schedules will be determined after enrollment
is complete.
Afternoon Day Care is available at no charge for students
waiting to take their music lesson. Students will be expected
to report to the music room five minutes prior to the start
of the lesson. Teachers and Day Care staff will have student
names and help them to remember.
The instructional fee for the 2011-2012 school year is $525. In
addtion, a $25 music supply fee is requested for cover all music
books, sheet music and basic supplies (reeds, valve oil, violin
rosin, CDs, etc.) which your child is given. The only other cost
will be the rental, lease or purchase of the instrument.
