Castlebay Lane Elementary After School Instrumental Music Program
The Castlebay Lane Elementary After School Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades 1- 5.
The program is directed by Larry Newman. Desireé Deasy and Wendy Mazon are the music specialists.
Weekly classes will be offered on campus Mondays after school for 30 to 40 minutes beginning on Monday, September 22, 2014.
INSTRUMENT DEMONSTRATION: Live demonstrations of the instruments and a preview of the music program will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 8:30, 9:00 and 9:30 AM for all students in the auditorium. Parents are invited to attend, too.
Instruction is available on ukulele, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, pBone mini, baritone horn, trombone, violin and cello.
First graders may only choose the violin.
Second graders may choose flute, clarinet, trumpet, pBone mini or violin.
Third grade and higher may choose ukulele, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, pBone mini, baritone horn, trombone, violin or cello.
To best accommodate all the students, the final schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. You will be notified of your child’s exact lesson time via email. Please keep a two hour time block open on Mondays after school. Yard supervision is available for students waiting to take their lesson. Younger students will ge given the earlier lesson times.
Classes run from Monday, September 22, 2014 through Monday, April 27, 2015, culminating with a spring concert on Monday, April 27 at 6:00 PM.
A one-time music fee of $495 is requested to cover the instructional costs of this year’s instrumental music program. In addition, a $25 music fee covers all music books, sheet music and basic supplies such as reeds, valve oil, violin rosin, etc. which your child is given.
The only other expense will be the lease, rental or purchase of the instrument. Through our instrument supplier, The Instrument Place, instruments can be ordered online now for free delivery to school for the first lesson. Recorders are provided free of charge.
Class size is limited so please submit your registration ASAP to reserve your place in the class.

All instruments are delivered free to school in time for the first lesson.
