The 2016 – 2017 Castlebay Lane Elementary After School Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades 1- 5.
The program is directed by Larry Newman. Desireé Deasy and Bianca Samaniego are the music specialists.
Weekly classes will be offered on campus Mondays after school for 30 to 40 minutes beginning on Monday, September 19, 2016.
Instruction is available on ukulele, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, pBone mini, baritone horn, trombone, violin and cello.
• First graders may only choose the violin.
• Second graders may choose flute, clarinet, trumpet, pBone mini or violin.
• Third grade and higher may choose ukulele, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, pBone mini, baritone horn, trombone, violin or cello.
To best accommodate all the students, the final schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. You will be notified of your child’s exact lesson time via email. Please keep a two hour time block from 2:50 PM to 5:00 PM open on Mondays after school. Yard supervision is available for students waiting to take their lesson. Younger students will be given the earlier lesson times.
Classes run from Monday, September 19, 2016 through Monday, April 24, 2017, culminating with a spring concert on Monday, April 24 at 6:00 PM.
A fee of $550 is requested from each participant. This fee covers weekly music instruction for the entire 2016 – 2017 school year. The fee also covers all music, books and basic supplies which your child is given throughout the year. The only other expenses will be the lease, rental or purchase of the instrument.
