The Beckford Charter for Enriched Studies After School Music Program
The program is directed by Larry Newman. Lyn Bertles and Victoria Sabonjohn are the music specialists.
First graders may choose the violin. Second and third graders may choose the violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet or pBone mini. Fourth and fifth graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, or pBone mini.
An introductory assembly on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 1:15 PM and 2:00 PM in the auditorium introduces students to the program with live performances of all the offered instruments. Parents are invited to attend.
Instruction begins on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 and runs through the school year, culminating with a school concert on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 6:00 PM.
Small group classes will be scheduled every 30 – 40 minutes after school on Tuesdays after school from 1:45 – 4:45 PM. Please have your child’s schedule clear for a 30 – 40 minute lesson during this time block. First graders will have their lesson right after dismissal at 1:45 PM. Beginning students will have earlier lesson times than returning students. The exact schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The final schedule of classes will be emailed to all applicants prior to the first day of class.
A fee of $565 is requested to cover the entire 2016-2017 school-year of music lessons from September 2016 through April 2017 – including all books, sheet music and basic supplies which your child is given throughout the year. Limited financial aid is also available.
The only other expense is the rental, lease or purchase of an instrument. Instruments are available through our official supplier, The Instrument Place. Order online now and get free delivery to school for the first lesson.
Class size is limited and priority is given to the earliest applicants. Please complete the online application to reserve a spot.
Once the application has been filled out, please print it and follow-up by mailing it along with your check.

All instruments are delivered free to school in time for the first lesson.
