Dear Parents:

Welcome! The violin class at school is designed to be both fun and a great learning opportunity. As we begin the violin lessons, one of the first things we learn is how to properly hold the violin.

A sponge or cushion is a big help to little violinists who may find the instrument uncomfortable to hold under their chin.

We recommend you simply get a sponge and a rubber band and attach it to the violin as shown in the photo below. If you want to get a little nicer sponge rest, you can order a Kinder Chinder rest. Or, the ultimate in shoulder rests is the Kun shoulder rest. All three options are shown below. Make one at home or order it here online.

Whichever you choose, the extra support will be a big help to your budding young violinist.

Thanks very much!
